Description

Ash Rose, Detroit’s Certified Dog Trainer & Behavior Consultant, offers expert guidance for those dealing with fear, aggression, and overarousal issues in their canine companions.

From shyness to intense aggression challenges, we know the emotional toll your dog’s behavior can take on you. Despite all the love and care you give your dog, and everything you’ve tried in the past, their inappropriate actions persist. The stress of living with a difficult dog can leave you feeling anxious, trapped, and exhausted.

Challenging circumstances like these are the ones we live to help with. Allow us to guide you in overcoming these challenges, and find a joyous, fun, and more harmonious life with your furry family member.

Our method of training is both ethical and effective. We work to change the underlying emotions that are driving the behavior rather than just punishing the dog to suppress the behavior. We create an environment where the dog wants to work with us because there’s great things in it for them, not because something bad will happen to them if they don’t. We treat dogs the way we wish to be treated - with kindness, patience and understanding.

We are passionate about keeping up to date with our education in the science of behavior modification. This ensures that your personalized training program incorporates the most recent evidence-based techniques.

No dominance theory nonsense, no intimidation, no pain, no fear. We are committed to the welfare of everyone involved. Get in touch today and empower yourself with the knowledge and skills you need to be a successful team.

I decided to become a trainer after I brought home my dog Clark in 2009 who turned out to have a high propensity for aggression. She is my inspiration; she set me on a mission to help dogs like her. My intense experiences with Clark made this life path a deeply personal investment for me.

My background in aversive compulsion training provides me with a certainty that reward-based training is absolutely the most effective approach. I constantly pursue continuing education so you can feel confident that your individualized training program uses the latest scientifically proven methods.

Dogs are my life, but I also enjoy nature, music, working on my home in Detroit, protesting for social justice, building queer community, and spending time with my partners, friends and family. I am proudly neurodivergent, and the continuous effort I make to manage my depression, anxiety, and ADHD helps me also work to be better able to accommodate the needs of my neurodivergent clients. I foster dogs and I volunteer with several shelters and rescues, as well as animal welfare programs for the community and spay & neuter programs. I have a passion for education and offer free apprenticeship or mentorship programs for BIPOC aspiring dog trainers. I have two personal dogs; Parker, an 11 year old American Pit Bull Terrier, and Lily, a 3 year old Pit Bull mix.
