Shelter Behavior Consultants

The objective of the Humane Training Alliance is to assist in finding qualified animal professionals. We have created a searchable web directory to guide the public to skilled individuals who prioritize modern, ethical approaches to animal training and handling. Through outreach and education, we aim to simplify the search for qualified professionals that will foster the relationship between you and your companion.

Learn about the Humane Training Alliance

We are here to make it easier for animal guardians to connect with compassionate and knowledgeable experts who can best help them achieve their goals.

Who we Are

This approach to training is both ethical and effective. Instead of using punishment to suppress behavior, we change behavior by addressing the underlying emotions of the dog, setting them up for success, and rewarding desired behaviors. Based on current scientific evidence, The American College for Veterinary Behaviorists recommends that only reward-based training methods are used for all dog training, including the treatment of behavior problems.

Ash Rose, Founder

This project so far has cost $1,750, and projected costs for the first year are $5,000. Our contract with our awesome web developer is $250 a month for the first year. The other costs will be material printing and distribution. We are planning to distribute fliers and information to shelters, vet offices, and pet stores across the state. We hope to start with Michigan and later expand to the entire Midwest, and later the entire country. Distribution of materials, managing the website, and approving trainer applications are done by our group of dedicated, unpaid volunteers. Support the Humane Training Alliance in our mission to make finding the right dog trainer more simple and less risky for dog guardians.
